Tropican Alternative Formula Parrot Food by Hagen is a soy-free extruded diet created for parrots that may need an alternative to standard Tropican Lifetime or High Performance formulations. This formula is especially suitable for diet-challenged parrots, adult birds, senior parrots, and birds needing lower protein and fat levels compared to High Performance Formula.

This parrot food uses peas and quinoa as alternative sources of high-quality protein. Peas offer a high digestibility score and pair well with other plant-derived proteins in the formula, including wheat and rice. Tropican Alternative Formula also includes vitamins and minerals, so an additional vitamin supplement is not needed.

The formula contains other selected ingredients such as pumpkin seeds, maple sugar, cranberries, sweet potato, wheat germ oil, marigold, flaxseed, and montmorillonite clay. The marigold provides lutein for the maintenance of good eye health, which may be especially beneficial for senior parrots.

Tropican’s extruded granules break cleanly instead of turning into fine powder like many pellets, helping reduce wasted food. The morsels are hard and dense, contributing to a healthier beak as part of daily feeding.
