Eclectus Ark: Dedicated to Eclectus Parrot Conservation & Care
At Eclectus Ark, we are committed to the well-being, conservation, and responsible care of Eclectus parrots and other avian species. Founded in 2016 by Laurella Desborough and Lisa Woodworth in Claremore, our not-for-profit organization takes a multifaceted approach to avian conservation, education, and rehabilitation.
Our Mission
Our primary goal is to preserve the genetic diversity of Eclectus parrot subspecies through meticulous captive breeding programs and detailed record-keeping. The knowledge we gain is shared within the avian community through published articles and journals, contributing to the collective understanding of Eclectus parrot care and preservation.
We also offer rehoming services for Eclectus parrots whose owners can no longer care for them, ensuring these birds find safe, loving, and knowledgeable new homes.
Global Conservation Efforts
Beyond our local efforts, we have donated funds to conservation projects in Indonesia. We also collaborate with Indonesian officials to assist in the identification of Eclectus subspecies, helping to ensure that the correct subspecies is returned to it's island of origin. This is to ensure that each subspecies remains pure.
A Resource for Avian Professionals
We maintain an extensive avicultural library in order to provide veterinary students, veterinarians, and aviculturists with valuable research materials to enhance their expertise in avian care.
Supporting Conservation Through Nutrition
In addition to our conservation work, we produce nutritionally rich, species-appropriate foods for parrots. Our unique offerings, such as Cajun Spiced Super Greens and Dehydrated Blackberry-Infused Millet Sprays, provide flavorful and healthful diet options for birds.
