What are Rose Hips?

Rose hips are the small, colorful fruits that develop on rose plants after the flowers fade. Naturally tangy and slightly sweet, these vibrant fruits are enjoyed by many bird species in the wild.

Parrot-Safe Rose Hips Tea

Ingredients:

• 1–2 teaspoons dried rose hips (Rosa canina)

• 1 cup warm water (not boiling – around 100–110°F / 37–43°C, safe to touch)

Steps:

1. Place the dried rose hips in a cup or bowl.

2. Pour warm (not hot) water over them.

3. Let steep for 7–10 minutes until the water turns a rich reddish-orange color.

4. Strain out the rose hips.

5. Serve cooled tea in a shallow dish, or drizzle lightly over chop for added flavor and enrichment.
